Our response to Corona Virus (Covid 19)

We have reached out to Wheelchair users in need and provided 250 Essential Kits including food and health supplies. We connected with over 200 users, parents and families as a start…We are extending our support to reach more poor and needy users and their families with our online mode.
Here is a peek into our actions over the last few weeks -

1. We have been reaching wheelchair users and their families with remote support across India via Phone, What’s app and Skype with :
  • Awareness on COVID-19 precautionary measures (Social distancing and importance of wearing masks, washing hands frequently; avoid touching nose, eyes, mouth;)
  • Wheelchair sanitization tips
  • Importance of repair and maintenance of wheelchairs – keeping it in good condition
It was a wonderful experience reaching out to our wheelchair users and being touch with them. Users too were very happy to be contacted and asked about their Health and Well-being. They shared the impact of COVID-19 on their life and that of their families…

2. We provided 'Peer Trainer' Support and Rehab professional support:
At Motivation we are taking the corona virus developments very seriously, and working hard to ensure support to wheelchair users and families across India

It was quite interesting to share and listen to their personal experience during this pandemic situation. 10 peer trainers from different parts of India participated and shared their present role and its importance. As a team we have started diligently working with our peer groups to interact with more users and support them remotely.

We have initiated communication with our peer trainers (Motivation Peer Training – MPT) through zoom app.

We started working with trained rehab professionals via zoom app during this pandemic situation. 13 Rehab professionals from our partners across India participated and shared activities in response to COVID-19.

3. Interaction with our service providers (all of whom were professionals with WSTP- Basic training from Motivation India) helped us connect and share thoughts from Delhi, Varanasi, Dehradun, Coimbatore, Raigarh, Chhatarpur, Gorakhpur and Bangalore!

4. Interacting with our partners across India enabled sharing different ideas & activities which will help our end users. Responses from each organization were highly appreciative and thankful for the endless efforts by team members.

Motivation as a partner organization is interacting with users, identifying their difficulties and routing concerns to local partners for help! Wheelchair users and caregivers in need of advice can reach out to us at : www.motivationindia.org or on Facebook: @motivationindia.org
